Music Ministry

Our music program at Hammond Street Congregational Church is one of the most meaningful parts of our life together. Each service is enriched with music that brings forward many of the Christian faith’s most beloved songs in language that helps everyone feel included. We believe music opens hearts and connects us more deeply with our faith. Our organist and Music Director, Kathy Jellison, works closely with the Diaconate and the Pastor to select music that enhances the worship experience for everyone.

The Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir, an adult choir under Kathy’s leadership, sings at worship services from September to June, as well as during special services such as Ash Wednesday and Christmas Eve. The choir rehearses every Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. While sight-reading is encouraged, it is not required to join the choir.

Music Education for All Ages

We offer music education for young singers and bell chime ringers, helping them develop their skills and passion for music. Through hands-on training and participation in our music programs, musicians of all ages can develop their skills and gain confidence in their abilities while also fostering a strong sense of community within the church and growing in their faith.

Bangor Community Concerts

Hammond Street Congregational Church hosts a variety of concerts featuring talented local and visiting choirs, groups, and individual musicians. Our concerts are open to the public, providing an opportunity for our community to enjoy a diverse range of performances, fostering community spirit and a love for music.
