LGBTQ+ individuals and families: YOU ARE WELCOME HERE! Whether you’re looking for a place to worship, a supportive community, or a way to get involved in advocacy, we invite you to join us. Hammond Street Congregational Church is a Christian community where LGBTQ+ individuals can integrate their faith with their full selves. All members are celebrated and embraced as an integral part of our church family.

Since 2003, HSCC has been an Open and Affirming (ONA) congregation. This means we actively welcome LGBTQ+ people into every aspect of church life. We believe in creating a safe space where everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or life experiences, can fully participate and feel at home.
We are committed to advocating for LGBTQ+ rights. Our members have supported efforts for legal equality, marriage equality, and transgender rights through active participation in events and campaigns organized by Equality Maine and other partners. We proudly stand alongside other supportive faith communities in these efforts.
Each year in June, HSCC joins Bangor Pride Week to support and celebrate LGBTQ+ people through real inclusion, advocacy, and visible community care. We take part in Quorship, a worship service that celebrates LGBTQ+ identity and faith. We also march in the Pride Parade and hold Pride Sunday, a service that honors LGBTQ+ people and our shared journey with God.
